Following Jesus, not just knowing about Him
In the Gospels, Jesus calls people with a simple invitation: “Follow Me” (Matthew 4:19). A disciple is a learner — someone who stays close to Jesus, listens to His teaching and lets it shape how they actually live. Discipleship begins with encounter, but it continues as a daily posture of trust and obedience.
Rooted in the Word
Jesus said, “If you abide in My word, you are truly My disciples” (John 8:31). Discipleship grows through Scripture — reading it, reflecting on it, praying it and putting it into practice. At VII, the Word of God is a core pillar: growth is not measured by information gathered, but by a life increasingly formed by what God has spoken.
Growing together, not alone
The first disciples learned in community — sharing meals, prayers, questions and mission (Acts 2:42–47). Discipleship is relational: we grow alongside others who encourage us, correct us in love and walk with us. That is why VII emphasizes fellowship, small groups and prayer together — the whole church growing, not a few specialists.
Making disciples
Jesus’ final command was to “make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19–20). Mature discipleship turns outward: what we receive, we pass on. Discipleship leads to service and impact — carrying God’s presence into every sphere of life, at home and across the world.
Your next step at VII
Discipleship at VII follows a simple journey: Encounter → Grow → Connect → Serve → Impact. Whether you are new to faith or have walked with Jesus for years, there is a next step for you — in the Word, in prayer, in community and in service.
